SharePoint 2010

The certification path for SharePoint 2010 is a bit more comprehensive than what currently exists for SharePoint 2007. Microsoft offers an MCTS, Professional, and a Masters program for SharePoint 2010, and will eventually offer a Microsoft Certified Architect program as well.

MCTS for SharePoint 2010

There are two MCTS exams available for SharePoint 2010. As was the case with the SharePoint 2007 exams, one exam is geared toward administrators, while the other is aimed at developers. The exams are:

  • Exam 70-667 MCTS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Configuring
  • Exam 70-573 MCTS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Application Development

Professional Certifications for SharePoint 2010

In order to earn a professional certification for SharePoint 2010, a candidate must first earn an MCTS certification for either development or administration. The professional certification builds onto the candidate’s chosen certification path.

If a candidate has chosen the SharePoint 2010 administration path then the exam that they will need to take is:

  • Exam 70-668 Pro: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Administrator

If on the other hand, the candidate has taken the development certification path then the required exam will be:

  • Exam 70-576 Pro: Designing and Developing Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Applications

Microsoft Certified Masters Program for SharePoint 2010

As with the MCM for SharePoint 2007, earning the MCM for SharePoint 2010 requires requires hands-on experience, instructor-led training, and a series of exams. Before a candidate can even be accepted into the MCM program, they must have passed an entire series of exams. These exams consist of both developer and administrator exams.

The prerequisite exams for the SharePoint 2010 MCM program include:

  • Exam 70-573 TS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Application Development
  • Exam 70-576 PRO: Designing and Developing Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Applications
  • Exam 70-667 TS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Configuring
  • Exam 70-668 PRO: SharePoint 2010, Administrator

Conclusion
