Where to Go from Here
The CCDA exam is relevant for those new to networking and to those who are established but looking to expand their knowledge base.
If you are new to networking, the CCDA certification process can help with identifying technologies that interest you and career path goals. However, before obtaining any other Cisco networking certifications, you will also need to get your CCNA. Content for the CCDA and CCNA are not mutually exclusive, so what you put into one exam should pay off on the other. Having your CCNA will open more diverse options if you intend to go further with Cisco certifications.
For those who are less technical but work with technical resources and want a stronger technical understanding (IT managers, project managers, help desk, and personnel managers), the CCDA is a great tool for integrating with and understanding the foundational aspects around networking technology.
Finally, for more advanced candidates, the CCDA provides a technical foundation for working in network design and a broader understanding of the different areas in network technology. Once you have passed the CCDA exam, you can also pursue Cisco Certified Design Professional certification.
