Intel Atom Processor Family
The Intel Atom processor family's modest power requirements provide very long battery life, making it a perfect choice for the growing netbook market. Although its small cache size and modest clock speed ranges make it less powerful than most notebook processors, the Atom family includes models with more advanced features such as hyperthreading, dual processor cores, 64-bit support, and VT-x hardware virtualization. Atom processors are available in five series: Z500, D500, N400, D400, and N200, 300, and 200.
Atom D500 Series
The dual-core D500 series is currently the most advanced member of the Atom family. It has the following features:
- Two processor cores
- 1MB cache
- Integrated graphics
- Hyperthreading technology
- Supports 64-bit operating systems and applications
- DMI connection between CPU and chipset
- DDR2 memory support
- 13 watts max TDP
- Based on "Pineview" architecture
