Pentium E2000, E5000, E6000 Family
Although the first Intel processor bearing the Pentium name was introduced in 1993, the Pentium name has continued to be a popular choice for Intel processors. Ironically, while Pentium was first used as the name for Intel's then brand-new and market-leading fifth-generation processor, Pentium E-series products are stripped-down versions of newer architectures and are used in desktop computers only. Current Pentium processors are available in three series: E2000, E5000, and E6000. The features are discussed in the following sections.
Pentium E6000 Series
This group of Pentium processors is a stripped-down version of the Core 2 Duo E7000 series:
- Two processor cores
- 2MB cache size
- Intel VT-x support
- Supports 64-bit operating systems and applications
- 1066MHz front side bus
- Based on "Wolfdale" architecture

Pentium E5000 Series
This group of Pentium processors is a stripped-down version of the Core 2 Duo E5000 series:
- Two processor cores
- 2MB cache size
- Some models support Intel VT hardware virtualization
- Supports 64-bit operating systems and applications
- 800MHz front side bus
- Based on "Wolfdale" architecture

Pentium E2000 Series
Pentium model numbers in the E2000 series identify processors that are stripped-down versions of the Core 2 Duo E2000 series:
- Two processor cores
- 1MB cache size
- Supports 64-bit operating systems and applications
- 800MHz Front Side Bus
- Based on "Conroe" architecture
